Boys fall under .500 at the hands of Edgewood

The middle school boys’ basketball team fell to .500 after losing to Edgewood 58-27 and dropping to a 2-2 record.

The boys were led by Lorenzo M. with 12 points. The Cats came out strong, holding a five point lead going into half time, but it was their lack of focus in the second half that eventually led to their loss.

Coach Derrick Hamilton attributes this loss to the lack of maturity on the boys’ end.

“We were lacking maturity and we lost our focus in the third. It was all the little things and after we went down by five in the 3rd quarter, everybody went their own way. There was no teamwork or ball movement,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton expects a win on Thursday to get the boys back on track.

“We have to get Cocoa Beach on Thursday to get to three and two and rebuild our confidence,” he said.

The Cats will face Cocoa Beach away at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
