Boys’ basketball to play during Winter Break

The boys’ basketball team will be playing against other Brevard teams in the Cocoa Beach Tournament during Winter Break. While not an official part of the high-school season, the tournament provides opportunities for players to practice and coaches to scout other teams’ capabilities for future games.

“Usually we don’t have practices and we don’t have any games set up [during Winter Break], so it’s good for us to just play and get ready for the second half of the season,” junior and captain Henry Pavlick said.

Pavlick said he has mixed feelings about playing in the tournament.

“I kind of like it because we get warmed up for the second half of the season, but we don’t really get a rest or a long break, which would be nice,” he said.

Junior Chase Burton said he is optimistic about the tournament.

“I think we will win,” he said. “We just have to stay focused.”

The team is scheduled to play Space Coast in the Cocoa Beach Tournament on Dec. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
