The boys’ basketball will begin summer workouts May 24. The sessions, which will include weight-lifting, skill-building and team scrimmaging, will be held Tuesdays and Thursday from 6 p.m. to -8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Teams get better during the regular season, but during the offseason it’s the time to build individual skills,” junior varsity Coach Carl Putman said. “That’s why [the coaches] have decided the start off season workouts early.”
The varsity basketball team also plans to participate in multiple summer tournaments including ones on June 17 and 18 at Rockledge High School, on June 25 at Stetson University in Deland and on July 7-10 at the Florida Institute of Technology.
” We have a motivated group of kids that love to play basketball and are willing to put forth the effort necessary to win,” varsity Head Coach Tony Riopelle said. “That’s why this summer we are playing in multiple tournaments. [The coaching staff ] will select 12 players to join us at the summer tournaments. The selection will be based on attendance of the summer workouts and each player’s skill
level.”
