Bottle art exhibit on display in media center

The third annual Chihuly exhibit is currently on display in the media center. Dale Chihuly is an artist known for his free-blown, functional and sculptural glass works. Art teacher Annamarie Zink’s art students melted plastic bottles to model Chihuly’s work.

“We got to use heat guns to melt the plastic bottles, which I thought was fun,” junior Katelyn Kern said.

Apart from the educational merit of the project, junior Chelsea Johnson found it environmentally friendly as well.

“We used all recycled materials such as bottles from around the school. It was a very eco-friendly project,” Chelsea Johnson said.

Junior Victoria Heuston won second place in the Space Coast Art Festival earlier this year for her Chihuly sculpture.
