The Brevard County School Board held a workshop Tuesday to discuss pending budget cuts, including a proposed pay-to-ride program that is supposed to replace the recently discontinued corridor busing program to choice schools.
According to the law, it is illegal to charge students in Brevard county for educational purposes, making the pay-to-ride program a risky and costly position for the school leaders.
School board members updated the audience with a possible cost of this program to be approximately $1,000 per year.
“We will be waiting on some legistaive decisions up in Tallahassee in terms of school finance and revenue,” Barbara Murray told Florida Today.
