Big waves at senior champs

With Senior Short Course Championship coming up on Feb. 28,  swimmers prepare to race against every competitive swimmer in Florida.

“The time cuts are kind of hard to get,” Coach Kyle Berry said. “ A swimmer needs to qualify a time standard of at least an ‘A’ to qualify, and that means they are the top 15% of their age group.”

Sophomore Katelyn Owl reflects on her work through the season.

“I’ve put in a lot of yards,” Owl said. “ I want to try to make finals in all my events.”

Berry has high expectations for his own high school swimmers.

“Yeah I hope to have lots of West Shore representation in the finals in lots of events,” he said.

The West Shore swimmers will compete in the Senior Championships at the Orlando YMCA through the Rocoa Rockets swim club on Feb. 28.
