Band’s winter concert warms the holidays

Beginning band through jazz band performed at the annual winter concert on Friday, each with different pieces of music including classical and festive pieces.

“I believe that all the bands did better than I honestly expected,” said Diego Vento, a sophomore clarinetist who plays in the wind ensemble. “We did a lot of practicing and played the songs over and over with [band director Chris] Houze helping improve things as we went along. In the end, I believe Mr. Houze did an excellent job preparing us and setting up the concert.”

Houze spent the entire semester planning the concert and preparing all the bands to play three or more pieces.

“My parents thought it was good, except there were mistakes such as when I played two beats earlier,” said Ben Everest,  a senior who played french horn for the symphonic band and trombone for wind ensemble and jazz band. “The music was good, it was festive and I felt that the difficulty was to the standard.”

The next event for the bands will be the spring concert.
