Members of the school band scored five superior ratings and two excellent marks at the State MPA competition March 21.
Senior Ethan Miles said this year’s group was especially small compared with past years as there are usually 20 student preformers and this year there were 12.
“Overall we did well and it was a fun experience,” Miles said. “We got to go two nights and normally we only go one day, so that was a bonus. We all put in our best and it was rewarding for the whole group.”
In addition to Miles, others who competed were seniors Robert Edmiston, Dakota Helbig, Nicole Marmol, Shelbe Spurlock and Alex St. Pierre-Pesant, juniors Natalie Brown, Paige Neihart, Jennifer Stone and Daniel Tenbusch. Sophomore Kevin Baylen and freshman Marc Spurlock also participated.
“I am super proud of all my students,” band teacher Carol Allen said. “I pushed them and pushed them, and they were such a joy to work with.”
