Baccalaureate scheduled for May 5

Senior Baccalaureate has been scheduled for May 5 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palm Bay. Senior Baccalaureate is an inspirational nondenominational service devoted to honoring graduating seniors.

“I’m going to attend,” senior James Bocinsky said. “From what I understand, it’s kind of like a church service except it’s more inspirational than religious. It’s just a get-together for our class before we go, and it is also meant to help us ease nerves before college.”

After the service, there will be a reception across the street at the parish hall. Seniors are instructed to arrive at 1:30 p.m. in their graduation gowns without caps. This event is being put on by the Baccalaureate committee, led by Leslie Kellner, senior Abbie Kellner’s mother.

“It’s a tradition,” math teacher Anne Nery said. “All of the seniors should go if possible. It’s nice, and everyone enjoys themselves and end up being closer together.”
