After a record-setting season, the Lady Wildcats volleyball team fell short in the first round of regional playoffs, losing to Bishop Moore in straight sets. Bishop Moore came into the game ranked first in the nation, and while the Lady Wildcats’ hopes were high, they were unable to overcome a Hornet onslaught.
“We went into the game not thinking that positively,” senior Amanda Farthing said. “We lost to the number one team in the nation and we put up quite a fight, so I’m proud of our team and it was a great way to end the season.”
The Lady Wilcats broke the school volleyball record and contested in the district finals, losing in a close five-set game to Cocoa Beach and then advancing to regional playoffs. The team also raised last year’s record of 13 wins to 21 this season.
“I am extremely proud of our team this year, everyone on the team raised their level of play so high,” senior Tess Sheets said. “We put up much more competition this season and were able to beat teams that we probably would have lost to in the past.”
The team’s end of year banquet will be on Dec. 2 at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club.
