After the nation English Honors Society induction on Tuesday, members eager to start the club events and fund-raisers.
“In a nutshell, my hope is that everyone will enjoy the club and want to come back as members next year,” club sponsor Jeanie Griffin said.
The requirements for membership include at least a 3.5 GPA in English and a 3.2 overall GPA. NEHS president Sydney Balgo, a senior, said members need to have a willingness to participate in club projects.

“This year we hope to accomplish a book drive as well as hosting an in-school essay contest to replace BCTE which was cut last year,” Balgo said. “The whole purpose of NEHS is to share our passion for English with others through service projects.”

New member Rachel Ho said she had her future in mind when she joined the organization.

“I joined the club mainly because I thought it’d look good on my resume,” Ho said. “I also joined the club to just be more involved in the school by raising the awareness of English. I hope to encourage others to make the society larger.”
