Senior Greg Darnell shot a 76 in the District 12-1A boys’ golf tournament, winning the coveted silver medal Tuesday at Suntree Country Club. Edgewood’s Kyle Lansing captured the gold with a 75 to lead his team to a first-place finish. The Indians tallied a team score of 321.

“I won districts last year, so I thought I could win it again.” Darnell said.”The course was playing hard. The greens were fast, so I was just trying to hit greens and make a couple puts here and there, but that didn’t happen. I got second out of 31, so that’s pretty good, I guess.”

Holy Trinity finished second at 323, Cocoa Beach finished third at 362, Melbourne Central Catholic placed fourth at 366, West Shore came in fifth at 397 and Brevard HEAT scored 428.

Darnell said he hopes for a good round at regionals Monday at Tuscawilla Country Club in Orlando so that he can advance to the state tournament which will be held at the end of October.
