Wildcats beat Minutemen in girls’ lacrosse Senior Night

Girls’ lacrosse had their Senior Night Thursday against Cocoa Beach. They won 16-2, and it was a bittersweet moment for the ten seniors on the team.

“It’s kind of weird realizing you’re playing in your last couple games, and that the season’s ending,” senior Christine Sherry said. She had a goal during the game. “I enjoyed playing with the seniors and making memories with the team. I’ll miss them all so much next year.”

The lacrosse team will be the first seed going into districts, having already played and won against everyone in their district.

“We have a good shot at winning districts this year,” senior Lindsay Gorham said. She had two goals in the game. “Our team has worked so hard this season and I know the team really wants it. Winning districts would be a great memory to take away from my senior year.”

Next year the lacrosse team will have nine returning players, with five of them being seniors.

“We have a lot of seniors that were a critical part of the team,” junior Angela Ahern said. “It will be hard to replace them, but we have quite a few returning players that know the game, so I think we will have a good season next year.”
