Senior Ankur Mehindru plans to hold his first skim contest Sunday to satisfy the requirements for his Senior Project. Sign up is at 8 a.m. and the prizes will be awarded at 4 p.m.
“I’ve wanted to do a contest for so long and I’ve always felt like there aren’t enough of them a year, so why not host one,” Mehindru said.
Anyone can enter the double-elimination contest located at Ponce de Leon Landing in Melbourne Beach.
“I expect at least 15-25 people to show up,” Mehindru said. “And I’m hoping for a least a little bit of waves.”
The contest has four divisions: I stink, I’m good, I’m better, and I’m turning pro tomorrow.
“I’m entering either good or better,” junior Tommy Panouses said. “I’m looking forward to chilling with everyone there. Nobody is really entering to win. It’s pretty much a fun contest with everyone just hanging out, laughing and smiling all day.”
