Girls’ basketball starts up again

Less than two months after girls’ basketball team finished its season, practices will soon start back up again.  Practices will be held every Wednesday from 2:30 p.m.  to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will run until the beginning of May. Coach Jeff Smith said he hopes to get a lot done in these next couple months.

“I’m looking to develop a lot of basic fundamental skills such as stronger passes, better ball handling, better form with shooting and rebounding techniques,” he said. “We will also possibly look at doing strength and conditioning sessions with our athletic trainer so that the girls are a lot stronger inside and have better endurance as the season begins.”

But with testing season right around the corner, is now a good time to start back up again?

“I’m in another sport right now, so I’m really busy,” junior Brooke Townsend said. “But I’m looking forward to the open gym and just kind of being able to go out and play basketball without having to worry about making sure you’re doing everything perfectly. You can just worry about having fun.”
