Cheerleaders to perform in showcase

The cheerleading squad will attend a showcase at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School on Feb. 11. The event, which includes 24 performances from teams from throughout the county, starts at noon. The last performance is scheduled to end at 2 p.m.

“I think the showcase will help the cheerleaders,” Coach Carrie Wadzinski said. “They will be able to see other teams perform, and we will see where we need improvements. We can get ideas from other teams and help strengthen our weaknesses.”

The junior varsity team is scheduled to perform at 12:15 p.m., and the varsity squad should take the stage at 12:55 p.m. The two squads will perform together at 1:35 p.m.

Varsity Captain Lyndsay Yandell said she’s looking forward to the showcase with bittersweet feelings.

“I’m excited for our team to show off what we’ve been practicing for all this time, but I don’t want to have to leave the squad,” Yandell said, who is one of four seniors for who will take part in one of the last performances of the season.  “I just hope to go out with a bang.”
