Boys’ varsity soccer captain John Bocinsky was selected by Florida Today newspaper as the All-Space Coast Player of the year.
“I’m really honored and blessed with the award. It’s great to see all of my hard work I’ve put in over the years to start to pay off,” the junior said. “West Shore has always been known for its exceptional academic program, but I hope this award lets everyone know that we can also excel in our sports.”
With 20 goals and 10 assists Bocinsky was the leading scorer for the season, helping the Wildcats produce the No. 1 offense in the county.
“Even though the paper only recognizes one person for the player of the year, I couldn’t have done it without any of my teammates,” he said. “This one is for the whole team because I saw how hard everyone worked and how much dedication they put into the team throughout the whole season.”
Bocinsky has lofty hopes for next season.
“An undefeated regular season wouldn’t be half-bad to go with a state-ring on the finger,” he said.
