Rough waves

Stormy conditions at Paradise Beach in Indialantic kept even surfers out of the water Friday afternoon around 4 p.m. “The wind was blowing so hard that even on the boardwalk sand was hitting us,” Greta Schledorn said. “It stung so much we went into the woods [for cover]. I felt sad for the stray cats living in there and wanted to take one home with me.” While only skirting Brevard County, Hurricane Sandy generated eight to 12-foot waves Friday and choppy conditions, according to online surf reports.
