Examining her work, sophomore Anna Held arranges the crystals she made on a paper towel. “I looked into the cup and thought we didn’t have any at first,” Held said. “I was worried we didn’t use enough epsom salt, but we actually had a lot.” To make the crystals, chemistry classes boiled water over a bunsen burner, stirred in epsom salt until it dissolved, then placed a string over the cups and let it sit for about two weeks to wait for the crystals to form.
