Wildbots win first tournament

In addition to earning a first-place trophy in the robot competition last weekend, the Wildbots, the school’s Lego Robotics team, also qualified to compete in the regional tournament in February.

Lego robotics is a middle-school program that combines building and robotics with an educational theme. The team has been working on programming a robot to complete a number of challenges related to this year’s theme of Nature’s Fury as well as researching natural disasters to prepare an educational program for elementary school students about tornado safety.

Lego robotics coach Angela Feldbush said she’s pleased with the team for overcoming obstacles.

“I was really proud of the team because they had a problem with the robot’s consistency in completing challenges to begin with, but worked as a team to fix the inconsistency,” Feldbush said.

Seventh-grader Justin H. said that he relished the opportunity to be a part of Wildbots.

“I’m really happy that we won because it was my first year being on the team,” Justin H. said. “The best part about being on the team is working with your friends. “

The winning team members were seventh-graders Chase B., Justin H., Justin R. ,Ryan F, and eighth-graders Anna F., and Harrison W.
