Senior Project party raises $2,000 for MS

Senior Lizzy Luker decided to host a “Party with a Purpose” for her Senior Project. The party was held at the Wickham park Community Center on Feb. 20 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. All proceeds went to a multiple sclerosis organization.

“I picked multiple sclerosis because my mom has had this disease for many years,” Luker said.

The senior said she was generally pleased with the event.

“The DJ ended up being really good which I was really worried about,” Luker said. “I would say overall it went pretty well except for the fact that some people were being disrespectful.”

The fundraiser raised more than $2,000.

“If I were to do this again I would get more food donations because the food went quick,” Luker said.

Tickets were $7 ahead of time and $10 at the door.

“I was sad and happy when it was all over. Sad because it was a blast and happy because no more stress,” Luker said.

Guest were asked to wear semiformal/homecoming attire to the event.

Sophomore Hannah Duncan said the event was a great idea.

“I was really excited when I heard about the event because I love going to dances with my friends,” Duncan said. “I felt like I was donating to a good cause while also having a good time.
