Pep buses ordered for soccer state final

Soccer fans will have the opportunity to pay $25 to take a charter bus to the University of South Florida to watch the varsity boys’ team play in the Class 2A state finals against Tampa Berkeley Prep at 7 p.m.. Riders will be scheduled to leave campus in between fifth and sixth periods and will not return until approximately midnight.

“We took school buses last time, and by what I could tell from the student body, it would be more ideal to get charter buses even if it is a little pricier,” Principal Rick Fleming said.

Students who want to ride the buses to USF will have to have a permission slip excusing them from class signed by their teachers.  Each bus will hold up to 54 people and as of Tuesday, the school plans to order two. The plan is to have the buses stop for a fast-food dinner on the way to the game.

“I like having the fans come to our games,” junior varsity player Liam Wixted said. “It gives us a little boost to try harder, and we don’t want to let the people down who drove and took the time to come see us.”
