Lottery process goes digital

With the current school year weeks away from being halfway over, registration for new students is quickly approaching.   A new form of the lottery, however, is bringing many changes to this year’s process.

“This year, the lottery is all electronic,” Assistant Principal Jackie Ingratta said.  “We were the only choice school that hadn’t converted to the electronic form.”

The electronic version will allow the administrators to use a program such as Excel to randomly mix application numbers into the available 175 spots.

“Everything will be so much easier this year,” Ingratta said.  “The process has always been tedious because everything had to be done by hand.”

The application window will open on Jan. 7 and will close on Feb. 7.  All applications have to be submitted by Feb. 7 at 4 p.m., no exceptions.  Notification letters will be mailed to all applicants on March 7 and Orientation/Registration meetings will be held on March 13-14 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.  March 21 is the deadline for commitment letters to be submitted, no later than 4 p.m..

“We’re looking forward to this year’s process and the changes it will bring,” Ingratta said. “The lottery will be completed with complete integrity and anonymity.”
