The mask mandate for Brevard Public Schools remains in place for now. Confusion arose after Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order Monday suspending the state’s remaining COVID-19 public health restrictions. After reviewing DeSantis’ order and follow-up guidance from the Florida Department of Education, it has been determined that the governor’s actions are focused on county and municipal governments only and do not have an impact on public schools. For now, there is no change in district policy or procedures when it comes to COVID-19 safety measures.

School board and district leaders continue to consistently discuss and evaluate the BPS COVID-19 plan. In addition, BPS staff continues have daily communication with the Brevard County Department of Health as they track COVID cases and quarantines in the school system.
