French Soiree set for Friday

French Honors Society will be hosting the Soiree Francaise on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with crepes in the cafeteria and a movie in the auditorium.

Tickets are on sale for $5 and can be bought from an FHS officer or in French teacher Jennifer Walker’s class.

FHS will be making the crepes which will be served with toppings and French film “Cyrano de Bergerac” will play in the auditorium.

The money made will go towards a $500 scholarship that will be given to a graduating senior who has excelled in French.

“The Soiree Francaise will provide funds to a student for continued studies in French,” Walker said.

FHS Publicity Officers Sarah Tanke and Emma Kalvan said the Soiree Francaise will be a learning experience for those who go.

“Learning about other cultures is important so that we can understand the way other people in different places live and behave,” Tanke said.

Kalvan had similar thoughts about the Soiree.

“Other cultures are important so that people understand global events and gain values of diversity,” she said.

Families and friends will learn about the French culture and have a good time, according to Walker.

“It joins families and the community to learn new things about the French culture, and they get to eat delicious crepes,” Walker said.
