Vine wins lead role in spring musical

Senior Michaela Vine has been chosen for the lead role of Milly in the theater department’s spring musical, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”  After the final audition on Thursday, director teacher Maureen Fallon posted the cast list.

The play involves a young girl named Millie living in the Oregon territory in the late 1850s who plans to marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to guarantee the success of her own marriage. The plan backfires when the brothers kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides.

“It is adapted from a 1954 movie of the same name with loads of energetic dancing,” Fallon said. “All in all, I think it will be a successful play.”

The musical will show on Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“I think this play will be a really fun. The many dance scenes will have the audience dancing in their seats and humming the tunes for the next week,” said senior Lauren Sadowski, who will play Sarah.
