Spring musical set to open Friday

“Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” will be performed by the West Shore Performing Arts Company in the school auditorium Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ takes place in 1850 Oregon Territory, where Adam Pontipee decides its time to take a wife so she can cook and clean for him and his six unkempt brothers,” director Maureen Fallon said. “His wife Milly decides that she must find wives for the brothers so that she can live in the mountain cabin with her husband alone.  The brothers decide to go to town and ‘steal’ six girls and take them back to the mountain.  Milly insists that the boys sleep in the barn and the girls in the house.  Despite that each pair up.”

The cast of 60 students, including leads Michaela Vine as Milly, and Justin Mehlich as Adam, is the largest the school’s ever had for the spring high school musical.

The cast is anticipating a great show, but also a lot of stress throughout this week.

“Tech week is going to be stressful as usual,” said freshman Emma Kalvan, a chorus member. “But everyone involved, tech, cast, orchestra, costumers, and Ms. Fallon, as always, is going to do a fantastic job. I’m really excited.”
