Theater prepares for dessert concert

The theater program is putting on a dessert concert this Saturday at 7 p.m. The show will not only consist of treats, but also the group’s choice of songs. The show will consist of New York Off Broadway songs  the students picked to perform. The show was originally scheduled for last weekend, but got moved due to testing. As the theater season is coming to an end, seniors Lauren McMillan and Nic Stelter are trying to wrap it up in the best way possible with their solo acts.

“In order to prepare for the concert, we have to move all the auditorium chairs and seat everyone at tables,” Stelter said. “There’s a variety of different teas, coffees and desserts served. Personally, I’m performing a solo, duet, as well as several other group numbers. The solo I’m in is from the musical ‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’ called ‘Stop? Wait? What?’”

The show includes almost all of Troupe 6034 and consists of other pieces such as “Pinocchio in Freak Flag” and “Shrek the Musical” performed by Moses Chavez-Gray. McMillan is another student who is doing a solo and a few other songs as well.

“My solo is called “She Used to be Mine” and it’s from ‘The Waitress’ written by Sara Bareilles,” McMilllan said. “I am very excited for not only my solo, but my duet with Devin Thrush. I’m also looking forward to the group numbers because we have a lot of those as well as a senior song. Were doing ‘For Good’ from ‘Wicked’ for our senior song. It definitely feels weird that this is one of the last performances I’ll get to do as a West Shore student, but I’m very excited to be able to perform and then finally graduate.”
