Volleyball open gyms begin

There will be an open gym on Wednesday for any returning or new volleyball players. The practice will be run by varsity Coach Laura Hall. Freshman Bria De La Hoz says she is excited for the opportunity.

“I feel like it’s a really great way to slowly start practicing  your skills so you’re in shape for the season,” she said.”These open gyms allow me to be more involved with the team and get to know new players.”

Freshman Lily Winsten is returning for her second season on the volleyball team and wants to make the best of the season.

“Going to the open gym really helps us develop our skills and learn to trust our teammates on the court,” she said.“It’s a really good way for new girls to get comfortable with the ball and meet the team.”

Freshmen Madi Colater, who has never played on a West Shore volleyball team said the open gyms will help her decide if she loves the sport.

“ I am not sure if I am going to play in the fall, but I am going to to the open gyms to see how I like it,” she said. ”According to everyone I talk to, this is an easy way to see if volleyball is for you. I hope I enjoy it.”

The open gym will be on Wednesday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
