Swim team wins dual-meet

The swim team won a dual meet against Palm Bay, with the girls triumphing 132-37 and the boys 112-57. The girls also knocked off the Brevard HEAT 121-37, and the boys prevailed 129-25 at Fee Avenue Pool on Wednesday. So far, both the girls’ and boys’ teams have won all meets with a total score of 5-0.

“The meet went super-well,” captain Dylan Gornto said. “We had a lot of good swims. I’m super-proud of the guys 200 Medley Relay team who had a close call against Palm Bay.”

Wednesday’s meet was a success for many of the swimmers.

“I think the meet went very well because I made a personal record in my event,” freshman Shelbi Winslow said.

Out of the water, the friendliness between the teams was evident. Captain Chloe Desantis said she was proud of the good sportsmanship of the teams. The team is also preparing for the future and districts, where the girls’ team has been district runner-ups for the last four years in a row.

“The team has a lot of younger swimmers who show potential for the upcoming years,” Gornto said.

Practices are Monday through Friday at Fee, and districts are near the end of October. Winslow said the team is improving a lot from practices and is excited for the future.
