Cross country boys finish seventh

The boys’ cross country team placed  seventh overall, and the girls placed 10th out of 21 schools in the Astronaut-Rotary Invitational at the Chain of Lakes Park in Titusville on Sept. 10.

“Even though I did get a [personal record] for this season, I’m not so happy about it because I’m still trying to get back down to my overall PR of 17:01, however; I’m confident I’ll get there soon,” said Jacob Smithe, top varsity runner. “As for the team, we placed pretty well considering that we competed against a few schools that aren’t even in our district, so i think we’re looking pretty good overall.”

Varsity girls captain Kate Crowley appeared optimistic.

“Considering that this was the first official meet of the season, I’m really proud of all the girls,” she said. “Even though not many of the girls got [personal records], most of us placed right around where we needed to be and beat a lot of the competitors in our district which is encouraging.”
