Space Coast Crew held its annual Christmas party Sunday, with members of the team bringing and wrapping gifts for underprivileged children. Rowers picked angels containing the name and need of a child from a Christmas tree before shopping for presents.
Sophomore Slater Rhodes endorsed the charity event.
“I think it’s a good way to wrap and give presents to the less fortunate,” he said. “ It was also a good team-bonding opportunity and helped us work on our teamwork.”
Junior Emily Eastwood pointed to other positive aspects of the event.
“I love the Christmas party,” she said. “It’s a great time to socialize and all. To see all of us get together and wrap presents for kids whose families struggle, it is amazing. The first year I did crew, the Christmas party was a way for me as the only eighth-grader in my year to get to know the older girls.”
The gifts will be given to the families for the children to open on Christmas Day.
