The PSAT/NMSQT will be held at West Shore on Wednesday, October 16th. Spots for testing will go on sale for $14 in Guidance beginning on Monday, September 23rd. There is a limited number of spots available, so students who want to participate must secure their spots early.
All grades may partake in the practice testing, and the junior class, having already been paid for by the West Shore PTA, do not need to register.
“By taking the PSAT, you get to see what the format of the SAT is going to be like,” Guidance Counselor Spero Tshontikidis said. “Because you’ve experienced it before, you gain a great advantage and it also eliminates some of the anxiety.”
Junior Taylor Irwin agrees that the test will be beneficial.
“I think that the PSAT will prepare me for the SAT because even though its shorter, the types of questions are similar so I’ll know what to expect,” Irwin said.
