National English Honor Society has been accepting applications for inductions into the club. The deadline for applications is Tuesday and inductions are tentatively set for Sept. 25. NEHS hopes to partner with Lit Mag and put on a schoolwide writing contest to replace the BCTE writing contest which has been discontinued.
“I think we are going to be really successful because we have a lot of hard working people in the club and we will soon be welcoming more as the deadline for applications approaches,” NEHS President Sydney Balgo said.
In addition, NEHS plans to put on a book drive, write a children’s book and read the book at local libraries.
“I want to make this club student-oriented,” NEHS sponsor Jeanie Griffin said. “I know the students have a lot of plans this year, and I think they can achieve them.”
