Microsoft to raise on Xbox games

Microsoft recently announced it will raise the price of its games from $60 to $70 in January. Since the early 1990s, the price has remained at $59.99. Sony and Ubisoft recently raised their game prices as well.

Freshman Max Jachec, who is an Xbox user, said the prices were already steep.

“I think that prices were already high enough as they were and this increase will just encourage more people to turn away from buying new games,” Jachec said.

Xbox also features a game pass, allowing users to play hundreds of games offered by Microsoft on the Xbox platform for a monthly subscription fee.  Freshman Ehab El-Ahmad the subscription plan might be the better deal.

“I think the price raise is going to encourage more people to buy game passes to avoid paying full price for games, which is good for Xbox but bad for users,” he said.
