Lady Wildcats’ defeat Mustangs at Senior Night

The girls’ varsity basketball team defeated the Merritt Island Lady Mustangs 35-20 in it’s last home game of the season Friday night.

“The first half went pretty well for us,” sophomore Naya Erfe said. “We played good and really worked together as a team tonight.”

The team also celebrated Senior Night in honor of Brooke Townsend, Skylar Johnson and Mary Billhartz.

“It was exciting but it felt weird knowing that it would be the last game playing at West Shore after playing here since seventh grade,” senior Mary Billhartz said. “I will miss actually playing basketball the most.”

Although the game went well for the varsity team, many junior-varsity players were upset to learn their game had been canceled earlier in the day.

“I was really excited to play since we haven’t had a game in a while,” eighth-grader Savannah H. said. “It would have been nice to get to play since there is now only one game left this season.”

The girls’ next game is Tuesday at Harmony High School.
