During the offseason, boys’ lacrosse works on conditioning Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:50 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. New and returning players are encouraged to attend.
The team spends most of this time running and working out.
“The main focus is the improve stamina,” Zachary Johnson (9) said. “We run to improve our cardiovascular strength and do core workouts to help our overall strength.”
New and returning players participate in these activities.
“There are a lot of returning players for the amount of people that show up and some new guys which is always nice to see,” Nicholas McKnight (12) said.
The conditioning drills are designed to help players advance and sharpen their skills and endurance.
“They help me feel comfortable throughout each game,” Johnson said. “Conditioning also increases my ability to make plays because I am not as tired during the game. Most of the time we are running either short sprints or longer runs like the mile to simulate and actual game. It is also a good way to bond with the team.”
The team has provided friends for many of the players.
“I can’t say exactly what everyone believes, but for me, everyone on the team is like a brother or son,” McKnight said. “And I’d do almost anything for them.”
