JV soccer struggles against Monte Verde

Seventh-grader Deve O. scored a goal on an the assist from Gavin R., but it was not enough as the junior varsity soccer team fell to Monte Verde 6-1 Monday night at home.

The Wildcats had a few chances early in the first half by playing some long balls over the top to the strikers.

“The score doesn’t tell the game,” sophomore Connor Horn said. “We had plenty of chances early on with the speed of Leighton Johnson and Ben Lack up top. Our game plan was working in the first half, but we just got tired and sloppy.”

With a fewer mistakes and mental break downs the game could have been tied.

“The team just moves the ball so fast it is hard to pace yourself,” freshman Matt Rabel said. “By the second half most of our players are exhausted.”

The Wildcats’ next game is at home on Friday against Space Coast. JV starts at 5:30 p.m. and varsity starts at 7 p.m.
