JV boys edge Edgewood 46-45

The junior-varsity boys’ basketball slipped past Edgewood 46-45 Friday night. The team had to rally multiple times to overcome deficits, but it came out with a hard-fought victory.

“I felt like we played poor but we were able to keep the lead,” sophomore Carl Koko said. ” I still think that we should have blown that team out because I honestly didn’t think they were that good besides one kid who just kept making threes.

The game went down to the final seconds and ended in dramatic fashion.

“We got lucky at the end because if he had made that free-throw, he would have tied the game and anything could have happened in overtime,” Koko said.

Sophomore Armando Sanataria said he was happy to get the victory over their longtime rival, but that his team must look forward and improve.

“I think the game went all right,” he said. “I mean we won, so that’s definitely a good thing especially because they’re our rival. I just think we still have some things to work on such as rebounding and decision making, but overall I’m pleased with how well the game went.”

The next game home game for the team scheduled for Monday against Space Coast at 5:30 p.m.
