Journalism 1 students vying to join TV pro staff

Journalism 1 hopefuls have been gathering in journalism teacher Mark Schledorn’s classroom on Thursdays during Power Hour A to audition for joining the TV Productions staff for the 2017-2018 school year.

“The meetings are to help us learn just what we’ll be doing in TV Pro and get familiar with the equipment, also it’s to see who’s passionate (about it) and won’t wimp out,” junior Daly Mann said. “I want to be a film director, and in my spare time I enjoy making short films. I feel like I’d really enjoy the class, and it’d give me some great experience.”

Sophomore Dylan O’Bryan gave his own take on the meetings.

“There’s a lot of people who want to be in the class and there’s only so many slots available, so we attend weekly meetings to show our dedication to wanting to be in the class next year,” O’Bryan said. “Basically to show we are serious. We’ve been assigned a project, basically you edit together a short news package like you see on the news every day.” \

The hopefuls were allowed to work with partners for the project.

“And my partner and I haven’t agreed on what we are going to do (yet),” Dylan O’Bryan said.
