Dance team car wash raises more than $800

The Purrfections raised a total of $842 after multiple donations between car wash customers and generous donors on Nov. 19 at Long Doggers in Indialantic.

“There were so many cars that came through our car wash, but if I had to guess, it would probably be anywhere from 50 to 60 cars,” junior varsity coach Stephanie Shaw said. “We had a lot of people who just donated money if they didn’t have time to get their car washed.”

Proceeds from the car wash will go towards financing for upcoming competitions.

“Our varsity team is attending the National Dance Team Championship in February as well as the Contest of Champions in March,” Shaw said. “Both are national competitions, and the money raised will go towards entrance fees which are around $1,600.”

Aside from the financial boost that has come from the car wash, it also gives the girls a chance to really bond with each other as a team while doing something other than dancing. Dancers on different team levels get to know each other in the process.

“I personally love the car washes because the whole team comes together and works hard to wash cars and hold signs,” junior Jasmine Greenhouse said. “Even though the day may be long, we always have lots of fun.”
