Crew makes splash at Halloween race

Space Coast Crew traveled to Tampa to compete in the Halloween Regatta on Oct. 31. The women’s varsity team won fifth place in the first varsity event and seventh in the second varsity +4. The men’s varsity team won second place in the first varsity +4, fourth and fifth place in the second varsity +4, second place in the varsity +8, second place in the third varsity +8 and first place in the fourth varsity +8.

“The wind was insane and the lines for the dock were crazy so it was impossible to do anything,” junior Jacob Lajeunesse said. “A couple of boats crashed here and there, but we mostly had a pretty calm day.”

Seventeen teams competed with the women’s varsity team and 11 teams competed with the men’s varsity team.

Space Coast Crew’s varsity teams will next travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Head of the South on Nov. 11-12, while the for boys’ and girls’ novice teams will compete in the Hatter Fall Classic in Deland on Nov. 12.
