Celebrate, but don’t mock Bin Laden’s demise

With the death of Osama bin Laden, America moves closer to a time when we can leave the Middle East. This certainly warrants some joy. However, many people are celebrating bin Laden’s death, and mocking him and his culture.

I can understand how people can be happy that such an enemy has been defeated. But it seems like the current state of things is inappropriate. Bin Laden was arguable an evil man, but does that give us the right to mock him? I feel it is wrong to treat any dead man, even bin Laden, as we’ve treated him. All men deserve some basic respect, even those like bin Laden.
