The annual Brevard Council Teachers of English writing contest results have been announced, and West Shore placed winners in every category and grade. First-place winners included sophomore Tatiana Martin for her memoir titled “When Life Gives you Lemons,” sophomore Bridget Lee for her non-fiction pieced titled “Roger: A Multifaceted Character,” freshman Molly Minta for her Sci-Fi/Fantasy entry “Running,” and eighth-grader Micah H. for her poem titled “Nothing.”

“Winning the contest was a huge surprise and a honor, to know my writing was that great,” Martin said.

Tenth-grade English teacher Jeanie Griffin  said she was happy for the winners from her classes,  and surely it didn’t hurt that all the winning students had been rewarded a extra credit in their English classes.

Third-place finishers included senior Lesley Wright for her nonfiction essay titled “Hollywood’s Walk of Shame” and junior Sara-Renee Weatherby for her drama/novel piece titled “At the End of the Year.”
