Boys’ soccer beats Astronaut 9-1

Gavin Robidoux (11) scored three goals and Michael Villanueva (12), Brock Ehmer (11), Christian Graham (10), Mateo Villanueva and Cole Ratkus (10) each added one, leading the varsity boys’ soccer team to a 9-1 victory against Astronaut on Tuesday night.

Sophomore Cannon Hester said the team could have had a shut out by half, with the exception of having a player quarantined.

“The game ended around 10 minutes early, but it should’ve been over by halftime,” Hester said. “We lost one of our center backs due to quarantine, and we don’t know when he’ll be back, hopefully for the Viera game. So far, the season is going good with a couple of humps like Eau Gallie, but definitely better than last year. I’m looking forward to seeing us come out on Thursday ready to win and seeing what we can do against a good team and full roster.”

Sophomore Ian Nemes that the boys played down to Astronaut’s level.

“As a whole we let Astronaut beat us in physicality and the determination to win. I believe that we played down to their level and thought we had an easy game on our hands,” he said. “Diego Alderfer being quarantined affected us a little bit, but other than that, so far our season is going well. Overal,l we have had improvement since the start of the season, many new kids joined this year so our chemistry has improved benefiting the team.”

The Wildcats’ will take on Viera at home beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday.
