Boys drop 52-50 OT thriller

Junior Travis McClendon scored 18, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats lost to Merritt Island High School 52-50 in overtime Friday night.

Junior Khalil Paul said the team needs to play more consistent in the first quarter.

“We need to come out of the gate more aggressive,” Paul said. “If we can do that then we wont have to make a comeback in the middle of the game.”

The refereeing of the game was something the team had to overcome.

” I thought the main reason for the slip away at the end was that they made a few shots that they hadn’t been hitting all day,” senior David Thompson said. ” That along with the officiating I felt was the biggest reason why we lost.”

The boys’ next game will be in Gainesville at the Bronson Holiday Tournament on Dec.29.
