Big Shane, small golf score

Middle schooler Shane G. who’s friends call him Big Shane because of his long drive,  recently shot a new personal golf record of a 44 for nine holes at Mallards Landing golf club.

“I was pretty excited because it was the first time I’ve beat my dad,” Shane said. “I felt pretty confident with my swing because I’ve been practicing a lot lately with some pals of mine.  I felt more focused on the greens than normal because I had a good start.”

On Wednesday afternoon Shane and some of his friends cumulatively hit 10 large buckets of practice balls, equivalent to about 800 balls.

“Yeah I definitely think that helped,”Shane said, “hitting all those range balls with guidance from one of my friends helped me save some strokes that are usually spent in the water or bushes.”
