Band’s Winter Concert set for Nov. 28

Band members are preparing for the Winter Concert scheduled for Nov. 28 at Eau Gallie High School.

“All four bands will be at that concert: beginning band, advanced band, wind ensemble and jazz band,” Director Carol Allen said.

Practice has been going on for weeks

“It was difficult because the ‘Wizard of Oz’ was taking up a lot of time, but we have been able to practice for the past couple of weeks,” junior Jamie Cox said.

In addition to preparing for the Winter Concert, 12 members have been preparing for the upcoming All-County honors band auditions.

“A couple thousand kids sign up and it is an anonymous audition,” Allen said. “Judges can’t see them, so it can be super fair.”

The musicians play scales, a piece they learned themselves and then they have 30 seconds to learn a piece and play it, Allen added.

“Students playing get nervous,” she said.
