Art festival marks final show for graphic design

This weekend marks the last show of the year for graphic design as students can place two items of their choice for judging at the Melbourne Art Festival. Students will be competing for cash prizes in their respective categories. The festival is scheduled to be held at Wickham Park for the first time in its history. For those looking to come and see art from schools around the county, hours are 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with several other events including live music and a 5k run.

This festival is known to be an exciting and well-presented show as all pieces are either mounted or matted, bringing a more professional feel to all works. Teacher Jim Finch encourages all students to show, especially because it can make their art turn into a professional looking pieces.

The event also marks the final art show for many students in their high school careers, as some are leaving for college or choosing to forego the AP program for graphic design.
