Senior Cole Alcock took on the challenge to make a surfboard for his Senior Project.
“If there’s waves, I’m out there and I don’t let much get in the way of that, not even school,” Alcock said.
Alcock has been surfing since he was 8 years old. He got the idea to make the surfboard when he was in middle school.
“In eighth grade, I remember a senior doing that for his, and since then I’ve always wanted to do that,” Alcock said.
The board is made out of polyurethane, and it’s a 5-foot-4 fish shape with a five-fin setup.
“I’ve always wanted to know the process of shaping because my life revolves around surfing,” Alcock said.
Building a surfboard was almost expected from the senior, considering that Alcock is a prominent surfer at the school.
“He’s got a unique, smooth style and goes for hard maneuvers,” junior James Bocinsky said. “I definitely get jealous of his pictures of him in Nicaragua because those are sick.”
